Objective Lameness Assessment in Practice

September 24 - 25

Choose between two course dates:

24 September 2026
Evidensia Faxe Equine Hospital

25 September 2026
Haderslev Equine Practice

Do you work with lameness assessment in horses?

During this one-day course, you will gain practical insight into how objective measurement systems can complement the clinical lameness examination.

Through theory, clinical cases and practical demonstrations, you will see both THE Q - Lameness Locator and Consteed used on the same horses. This gives you a solid basis for assessing the strengths, possibilities and limitations of the two systems in clinical practice.

The course includes:

  • Insight into the latest developments in objective lameness assessment
  • An introduction to the background, development and clinical use of THE Q - Lameness Locator
  • An introduction to Consteed and its sensor-based measurement of loading patterns
  • Practical demonstrations of both systems on the same horses
  • Guidance on how data can be read, interpreted and translated into clinically relevant information
  • Real-life cases and clinical experience from equine practice
  • Knowledge of how objective data can support assessment, documentation and follow-up
THE Q - Lameness Locator

THE Q, also known as Lameness Locator, is an established objective measurement system that has been used clinically for more than 12 years. Jon Vedding Nielsen will introduce the background and development of the system and share practical and clinical experience from equine practice.

Consteed

Consteed is a sensor-based system that uses pressure sensors integrated into a specially developed shoe. The system records the horse's loading pattern and provides data that can be used when assessing and monitoring lameness. Dr. Geburick will present the background, development and practical use of the system, with particular focus on reading and interpreting the data.
