Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is now essential for the recognition and stabilisation of many critical cases.

These diagnostic tests can be easily mastered and utilised daily to help save lives in the most unstable patients. This highly practical one-day course will cover scanning of the abdomen, thorax and heart, helping you diagnose, differentiate and stabilise common critical care presentations.

Learning objectives:

  • Abdominal pathology, fluid assessment and diagnosis of haemoabdomen, septic abdomen, uroabdomen and bile peritonitis
  • Assessing volume status in the cardiovascular system
  • Thoracic ultrasonography for pleural space diseases
  • Thoracic ultrasonography for pulmonary diseases and how to differentiate between cardiac and non-cardiac cases
  • The basics of echocardiography and point-of-care skills to determine heart failure and its cause
